Law Enforcement Costs Going Up For Five Ventura County Cities

Posted on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 2:29pm

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department has increased what it charges five cities to provide them with law enforcement services.

Ventura County Supervisors approved the Sheriff’s Department contracts with the cities of Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, and Thousand Oaks.   A 4.5 percent hike is intended to cover increased costs.  The five contracts for the current fiscal year together amount to just over 51 million dollars.

The Sheriff’s Department provides law enforcement services for the unincorporated parts of the county, as well as under contract for the five cities in the county which don’t have their own police departments.
