A new Santa Barbara County Grand Jury Report says a school district violated the state’s open meeting law on multiple occasions.
The report says the Cuyama Joint Unified School District’s school board violated the Brown Act because confidential information discussed during board’s closed door sessions was disclosed.
The Grand Jury says it found that some of the information regarding personnel matters became public.
In the report, the jury noted that only some of the school board members had received mandated Brown Act training, and it’s calling for all of them to undergo training.
It’s also calling on the Cuyama school board to amend its bylaws to include a requirement to admonish attendees at closed door sessions that they are required by law to maintain confidentiality.
