Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy, Two People Injured In Scuffle

Posted on Saturday, February 4, 2012 8:00pm

A Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy, and two people were injured after the deputy says a car tried to run him over following a traffic stop, and he fired at the vehicle.

It happened just after 11 Friday night, in Camarillo.  A deputy tried to get a vehicle to stop for an undisclosed reason.  The vehicle didn’t stop for several blocks, but finally pulled over on the 400 block of Kino Street.  As the deputy approached the driver of the vehicle on foot, the officer says the vehicle moved into reverse, and hit him.

The deputy then opened fire, injuring the driver and a female passenger.  All three people were taken to a hospital with what have been described as non life threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Department hasn’t released additional information, including the names of the deputy or the two people, or what charges may be filed in connection with the incident.
