A crackdown on drivers failing to follow traffic laws related to pedestrians in Santa Barbara led to 60 citations.
The Santa Barbara Police Department set up three sting operations in the city yesterday, at De La Vina and Los Olivos Streets, Milpas and Ortega Streets, and Coast Village Road and Butterfly Lane. The intersections were chosen because they have wither been the scene of fatal vehicle versus pedestrian incidents, or serious close calls.
The citations were for failure to yield to pedestrains in crosswalks, with two drivers also cited for being unlicensed drivers.
