A Thousand Oaks based biotech giant has made a major acquisition, purchasing a company which owns a promising new drug to treat leukemia.
Amgen is paying $1.2 billion dollars to buy Micromet. It’s an experimental leukemia drug, and if it’s approved for use, would give the Ventura County based company a major new addition to its already strong drug lineup. Amgen is paying $11 a share to buy the Maryland-based company.
