An early morning fire at a Thousand Oaks apartment complex killed one person, and has left about a dozen temporarily homeless.
The fire was discovered just before three a.m., in a three story complex at the corner of West Olsen Road, and Mountclef Boulevard. A California Lutheran University campus police officer spotted the blaze, and another officer with building residents fought the fire while Ventura County firefighters were en route to the scene.
The firefighters were able to contain the fire to one unit, but discovered the body of an adult woman inside. She hasn’t been identified, pending notification of relatives. No one else was hurt.
Several other units suffered water damage, temporarily displacing about a dozen people. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
