Authorities are now identifying a woman found dead in a Simi Valley home by police responding to a domestic disturbance call.
Officers were called to the 2100 block of Lupin Street around 4:30 yesterday afternoon, where they found the body of Claudia Menjivar. Detectives say they learned that a man they considered to be a suspect in the killing might still be in the area, and made contact with him via cell phone.
Jose Monterrozo returned to the house, where he was taken into custody without incident, and booked on a murder charge.
The couple had a child, who was taken into protective custody. The exact cause of death is unclear, but the woman had a head injury. There’s no word on what might have sparked the killing.
