Investigators are trying to figure out what led to a light plane crash in Ventura County, which injured the plane’s pilot.
The plane was practicing takeoffs and landings at Camarillo Airport just before 4 p.m. yesterday when it radioed it was having landing gear problems, and lost power. It crash landed in an agricultural field south of the airport, near Las Posas and Pleasant Valley Roads. It skidded into a tent structure where strawberries were being grown.
The pilot suffered a leg injury. No one on the ground was hurt. The light plane suffered serious damage, with plane’s wings torn off in the process.
