Race For New Assembly Seat In Ventura County Starting To Take Shape

The race for a new state assembly district in Ventura County is starting to take shape, with word that a U.C. Santa Barbara administrator will challenge an incumbent currently serving much of the same area..

Tom Mullens of Thousand Oaks says he will seek the 44th Assembly District seat, which includes Moorpark, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Oxnard, and Port Hueneme.

The 59 year old Democrat is a Navy veteran who works in communication services at UCSB.

He’s challenging Jeff Gorrell, a businessman who’s also a navy reservist currently deployed in Afghanistan.
