A major 101 Freeway offramp has been closed in Ventura due to a water line break which caused some street flooding.
Just before 2 p.m. today, water started gurgling up through the cement cracks around the intersection of Main, and Donlon Streets.
The leak was in front of Ventura Fire Station Number Five, so as a precaution against the cement shifting, or becoming unstable fire department vehicles were moved out of the building. Water is also off to businesses north of Main Street, between Telephone Street and Callens Street.
Also as a result, the southbound 101 Freeway offramp at Main Street is closed, and the CHP says it will probably remain closed until early tomorrow morning.
City officials say an eight inch cast iron water pipe which was installed in the 1960′s failed, and crews are working to replace it.
