Developer With Ventura, Santa Barbara County Ties Latest To Announce Bid For The Los Angeles Dodgers

Posted on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 3:14pm

A developer known in L-A, and Ventura Counties for his high end mall, and in Santa Barbara County for his plans to rebuild a resort is now trying to add a new title to his name…owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Developer Rick Caruso has teamed up with former Dodgers Manager Joe Torre to become the latest bidder to buy the troubled franchise from current owner Frank McCourt.

Caruso built “The Lakes” and the “Promenade At Westlake” dining, shopping, and entertainment complexes in Ventura County.

In Los Angeles County, he built “The Grove” complex in the Wilshire District, and “The Americana” center in Glendale.

In Santa Barbara County, he spent years fighting to get county permission to rebuild Montecito’s long closed Miramar Resort, only to put his approved plans on hold due to the economy.

The Caruso/Torre bid is one of a half dozen announced partnerships seeking to buy the Dodgers, with a decision expected in the next few weeks.
