Wind Gusts Up To 70 Miles An Hour Possible For Parts Of The South Coast

Posted on Thursday, December 22, 2011 2:12pm

Santa Ana wind conditions are continuing to sweep parts of the South Coast, with gusts up to 70 miles an hour expected in some areas.

Low pressure over Utah is generating the wind.  There’s a wind advisory in effect for coastal areas of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties, with wind in the 20 to 35 mile an hour range, and gusts up to 55 miles an hour.  Inland areas like Thousand Oaks continue to have a high wind warning in effect, with stronger sustained wind, in the 25 to 40 mile an hour range, and gusts to 60.  Wind gusts could hit 70 miles an hour in Ventura County’s mountains.

The wind is expected to ease tomorrow afternoon, with clear skies, and warmer temperatures for the holiday weekend.
