The Ventura County Superior Court system has announced plans to shut down most of its operations on Friday, though the end of the year in a cost cutting move. Court officials say the system is trying to deal with the impacts of state budget cuts.
Most court proceedings have been postponed until after January 2nd, although a handful of courtrooms will remain open to hear urgent criminal and civil matters. People who have jury summons for the next week and a half are being told to follow the instructions on their summons closely.
Drop boxes for documents remain open at court facilities, as will collection offices, and walk-up windows for issues like traffic tickets.
