Search Underway For Missing Santa Barbara Men In Mojave Desert

Posted on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 3:55pm

More than 180 people are now involved in a search underway in the Mojave Desert for two Santa Barbara men who disappeared while on an off road vehicle trip.

Daniel Preddy Carbenaro, and Chris Wayne Rice were last seen early Sunday morning, leaving a motel in the tiny historic town of Randsberg, which is about 15 miles from the city of Ridgecrest.

The men were believed to have been headed to a dry lake bed to ride an off road vehicle.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department launched a search, and because the area was near the county line, the Kern County Sheriff’s Department is also involved.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department has also sent over a team equipped with off road vehicles to aid in the search.
