Posted on Sunday, December 18, 2011 12:15pm

A tense standoff in an Oxnard neighborhood involving a man with a gun who at one point held three children captive ended safely, with no one hurt.

It started at around noon on Saturday, when  a man armed with a gun showed up at a home on the 500 block of West Hill Street.  Oxnard police say after a brief confrontation with a man, Leonard Ramirez ordered three kids into a bedroom.  He eventually released the kids, but the standoff cpontinued for about four hours.

Finally, after police threw some flash bang grenades into the house to startle the 36 year old Oxnard man, he surrendered.  Police say they stiill aren’t sure about what led to the confrontation, but say Ramirez apparently had gone of the house to talk about some financial dealings with the man who lives there.
