A Ventura County community has announced the hiring of a new cultural affairs director, an important post in the city because it includes managing one of the region’s largest performing arts facilities.

Barry McComb will take over as the Thousand Oaks Cultural Affairs Director in February, which include managing the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

McComb is currently chief executive of Glendale Arts, a non-profit organization which manages the historic Alex Theater.

His background may help expand bookings for the complex.

McComb worked as the director of entertainment for the parent company of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

He’ll replace longtime director Tom Mitze, who is retiring.
