The City of Simi Valley is expected to again take up the issue tonight of whether it should leave the Ventura County Library System, and take over responsibility for managing its library.
Simi Valley, like some of the other cities in the county has been evaluating whether it’s getting the best value for what’s being spent for library services. Camarillo decided with from the system, using private contrators to provide services, while Ventura decided to stick with the system.
There is an urgency to the decision making process, because a new state law taking effect January 1st will make it more difficult for jurisdictions to use contrators for library services. The City Council is set to look at the question when it meets at Simi Valley City Hall beginning at 6:30 tonight.
