Students, and faculty members at Oxnard’s Channel Islands High School are stunned over news that the school’s popular girls basketball coach has died. School officials say that Pat Bell suffered a fatal heart attack Monday night.
Bell was a Channel Islands High graduate, and had been a coach at the high school since 1992. He had recently married, and has a young son. He, and his team had been preparing for the start of basketball season, which opens next week.
Plans for a memorial service haven’t been announced yet. He was 44 years old.
