A volunteer with a preschool program in Ventura County has been arrested on a grand theft charge, after Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives say she embezzled around $50,000.
Investigators say Kathryn Rachel Gonzales was a volunteer treasurer for the Pleasant Valley Cooperative Preschool in Camarillo from June of 2007, to June of 2011.
They say she improperly withdrew money in varying amounts out of the schools bank accounts over the last few years.
A new treasurer taking over the post noticed discrepancies, prompting an audit, and discovery of the missing money.
