Ventura Fire Department investigators are looking into what they say was an intentionally set fire which gutted a small detached apartment unit in the midtown area of the city.
The fire was discovered just before 1:30 p.m. today (11/15), on the 200 block of Hemlock Street. Firefighters say the unit was fully engulfed when they arrived, and while they kept it from spreading, it caused some heat damage to nearby homes, and parked vehicles.
The unit had been vacant for several months. No one was hurt.
