Korea: The Forgotten War

Posted on Friday, November 11, 2011 5:00pm

Veteran’s Day is a time for the nation to honor the men and women who have served and sacrificed to protect our freedom.  Some of those fallen heroes died in a war often lost to memory.

It took place on the first battlefield of the cold war and, during three years, cost the lives of 37,000 Americans.  Fought against communist forces, there were fears it could escalate into World War III.

In Korea:  Remembering the Forgotten War, KCLU Special Projects Reporter, John North, gathered accounts of the battle from local combat veterans and Korean War historians.  You’ll also hear the voices of President Harry Truman, General Douglas MacArthur and Senator Joseph McCarthy.

This exclusive KCLU documentary first aired Memorial Weekend, 2011.
