A Santa Barbara County man is facing more than a half dozen charges following a standoff with a “SWAT” team which led to the evacuation of part of a Goleta neighborhood.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies received a domestic disturbance call, and reports of gunshots near Magna Vista, and Baxter Streets in the Goleta area just after nine last night (11/9).
The deputies tracked down the man identified by witnesses as the suspect in the incident to a home on the 47-hundred block of Chandler Street.
They learned that Jonathan Aceves was on probation, and might also have access to several guns.
The 24-year-old man refused to surrender, so a “SWAT” team was called to the scene.
Several surrounding homes were evacuated, and residents taken to a shelter set up by the Red Cross at San Marcos High School.
Aceves was eventually arrested without incident just after three this morning.
He’s facing charges which include making death threats, discharging a gun in a negligent manner, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
