Lawsuit Over Water Quality Concerns In Ventura County Settled

Posted on Thursday, November 3, 2011 12:37pm

A trash collection company, and an environmental group have announced they’ve reached a settlement in a dispute over some water quality concerns in Ventura County.

The Wishtoyo Foundation had filed suit against E.J. Harrison & Sons over concerns that stormwater discharges from the company’s Saticoy facility would end up in the Santa Clara River, and ultimately the ocean.  The company agreed to address the concerns, and will construct additional storm water treatment infrastructure to try to insure runoff doesn’t carry pollution from the waste facility into waterways.

E.J. Harrison will also provide $50,000 for projects to help improve steelhead habitat in the Santa Clara River, and $5,000 to sponsor a dozen watershed community cleanup events.  The Foundation has agreed to drop its lawsuit.
