Final numbers coming in for the three day Halloween weekend period show that some 288 people were arrested in Isla Vista, as partygoers from throughout the Western United States descended on the community for a massive series of unsponsored, unsactioned parties.
There were also 230 citations, and 80 calls for medical attention, with 50 of those people transported to local hospitals. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department brought in dozens of extra officers, with the total price tag for dealing with the tens of thousands of people estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The CHP beefed up patrols on the 101 Freeway in the Goleta area, resulting in five DUI arrests, and 266 citations. Santa Barbara, and Lompoc Police helped patrol Goleta through the weekend as well, resulting in an additional four DUI arrests, and 50 citations.
