An effort to steal some diesel fuel led to a hazardous materials call for Ventura firefighters this morning (10/27).
It happened on the 300 block of Sanjon Road, near Thompson Boulevard. Sometime just before 6 a.m. today, someone noticed a siphon hose hanging from a truck.
An estimated two dozen gallons of fuel had spilled, and gone into a storm drain, but it was contained before it could reach the ocean.
Ventura County Environmental health workers have been helping city firefighters, and public works crews deal with the mess.
