A Ventura County community has approved a redevelopment plant to try to improve one of its main business districts.
The Thousand Oaks City Council approved a specific plan which will serve as a blueprint for future growth on a three mile stretch of Thousand Oaks Boulevard.
The plan will allow retail, office, and residential uses on the stretch of the Boulevard from Moorpark Road, to the Thousand Oaks Post Office.
The council compromised on one of the most controversial parts of the plan, the heighth of new buildings. Some people had sought to be able to build four story buildings, but others objected, so the city decided on a cap of three stories.
The plan also calls for measures like improved landscaping, and better sidewalks.
