Authorities are investigating the death of a man who was struck, and killed by a freight train in Ventura early Wednesday morning (10/19).
Ventura Police say the man was walking on the tracks near Harbor Boulevard around 1:30 this morning.
The engineer of a northbound Union Pacific freight train sounded the train’s horn, and hit the train’s brakes, but was unable to stop in time. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the 56 year old man hasn’t been released, pending notification of family.
