Authorities confirm that a Ventura Police officer found shot to death early Sunday morning (10/16) while on patrol committed suicide.
The 27-year-old man was on patrol around 1:30 a.m. when dispatchers lost contact with him.
Other officers started a search, and found his body on the 14-hundred block of Dowell Drive about two hours later.
In a written statement, the police department says there was an allegation of possible misconduct involving the officer, but officials say they couldn’t comment further because it was a personnel matter.
The officer had been with the department since 2007.
