One of the world’s largest chemical companies is giving a local university up to 15 million dollars, to establish an institute to try to develop new materials.
The Dow Chemical Company is awarding the money to U.C. Santa Barbara’s Materials Research Laboratory, which will house the new institute.
The money will be used for research to try to develop the next generation of materials for everything from microelectronics, to drug delivery systems.
The institute will also help train the next wave of scientists, and engineers.
