Santa Barbara County Supervisors hired Herman Parker as the head of the county’s new Community Services Department.
Parker has worked for the City of Temecula since 1991, and has been that city’s Community Services Director for the last 13 years. He also worked for the City of Riverside, and the County of Los Angeles,
After graduating from college, he also played professional football for the Buffalo Bills.
He’ll head a new Santa Barbara County department which includes the Parks Department, Housing and Community Development, the Library Advisory Committee, the Human Services Commission, and the Arts Commission.
County Supervisors approved a plan last spring to combine the different services in an attempt to improve services to the public, while at the same time potentially saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in administrative costs.
