The police chief for one of Ventura County’s largest cities has announced plans to retire.
Simi Valley Police Chief Mike Lewis will step down in December, after five years on the job.
Lewis has spent his entire law enforcement career in Ventura County, working for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department for three decades before being recruited to head the Simi Valley department.
City officials say they will start recruiting for a successor, and will look both inside, and outside of the department.
