A high school student who disappeared from Ventura in December of 2007 is back home, after returning from Mexico with the man authorities allege abducted her.
Chioma Gray was 15 when she disappeared. Witnesses saw her get into a stolen car outside of Buena High School which was driven by then 20 year old Andrew Joshua Tafoya. He had just been released from jail, where he had spent several months after being convicted of having a sexual relationship with Gray, who was a minor.
The U.S. Marshal’s Service says Tafoya recently contacted them, and wanted to surrender. Tafoya and Gray had been living in Mexico. The Marshal’s Service made arrangements for the two to fly to Los Angeles, where the now 24 year old man was taken into custody last night, and Gray, who is now 19, was reunited with her family.
