The Moorpark City Council unanimously gave preliminary approval to plans last night (10/5) for a nearly 560,000 acre television, and movie studio lot on the west side of the city. Trilliad Development wants to build 12 sound stages, as well as support facilities on 44 acres of land north of Los Angeles Avenue, near Gabbert Road.
The developer agreed to widen Los Angeles Avenue from two, to four lanes in the area, and add stoplights to help deal with traffic concerns stemming from the project. The City Council gave its initial okay to a series of steps needed for the project, including a development agreement, and zoning modifications. Final approval is expected at the council’s October 19th meeting.
The project is expected to mean work for hundreds of construction workers, as well as a number of ongoing jobs once the studio complex is open.
