Gidget was a fictional character who became a symbol of California’s beach, and surf culture. But, most people don’t know she was based on a real teen. KCLU’s Lance Orozco talks with the original Gidget, as well as with a filmmaker who’s created a documentary about her. They’re both appearing at a Saturday afternoon (9/24) screening at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum.
