A high school football player from Ventura County remains in stable condition at a San Luis Obispo County hospital today (9/20), after a game injury led to emergency brain surgery.
Oxnard High School safety Adrian Padilla suffered a serious concussion in last Friday night’s 28-7 loss to San Luis Obispo High School.
He walked off the field after a play, but collapsed on the sidelines, and was rushed to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.
Counselors met with students at Oxnard High to help them cope with the crisis. A relief fund has been set up at Santa Barbara Bank and Trust in Adrian Padilla’s name, to help with costs connected with the injury.
