Major Santa Barbara County Highway Reopens After Vehicle Accident, Brushfire

Posted on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 2:57pm

Highway 154 is now reopened in Santa Barbara County after being closed for more than three hours by a multi-vehicle traffic accident on San Marcos Pass, which also started a small brush fire which threatened to spread into rugged, nearby terrain.

A plume of smoke was visible in Southern Santa Barbara County as a result of the 2:30 p.m. accident about three miles north of Santa Barbara, in the Windy Gap area.   Firefighters got the quarter of an acre brush fire control from the accident under control in less than an hour.  Six injuries have been reported as a result of the head-on crash.
