The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office says some charities are breaking the laws by not meeting legal requirements for raffles, which include registering with the State Attorney General’s Office, and setting it up so 90% of the proceeds go to the charity. So-called 50-50 raffles, where the money is split between the charity and the winner are illegal in California. KCLU’s Lance Orozco talks with a Ventura County prosecutor about the situation.
