The Oxnard school district finalized a contract with a new superintendent.
Jeff Chancer will become the district’s first permanent superintendent in a year and a half, officially starting work next week. Chancer is a familiar face in Ventura County’s educational community. He had been an assistant superintendent in the Ventura School District.
In February of 2010, then-superintendent Anthony Monreal was put on a paid administrative leave by the district’s school board.
The exact reason was never announced. He was paid for four months left on his contract, as well as a settlement in excess of $100,000.
