Many of the world’s leading experts on earthquakes are in Santa Barbara County, for an international conference allowing researchers to talk about groundbreaking new data gleaned from major quakes in Japan, and New Zealand. They are focusing on soil and surface geology, and how it reacts to ground motion. KCLU’s Lance Orozco talks with some of the 160 researchers on hand from 18 different countries.
