World War Two Fighter Pilots Group In Ventura County For What Could Be Their Final Convention

Posted on Friday, August 19, 2011 10:04am

They were young U.S. pilots who crossed the skies above Nazi controlled Europe, taking on enemy planes in the sky, and tanks, and troops on the ground.  While most of the members of the 474th Fighter Group survived the war, most of them have died from old age, with the few survivors in their 90′s.  This weekend (8/20 and 8/21), 19 of the still living pilots are in Ventura county for what could be their last convention.  They’ll be the guests of honor at the “Wings Over Camarillo” Airshow, as well as being honored with other events.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco has the story.
