Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Detectives are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a woman in her Goleta apartment, and may be responsible for a string of other incidents in the same area.
Investigators say that just after 3 a.m. Saturday, a man broke into an apartment complex on the 100 block of Sumida Gardens Lane. A woman living there says she was attacked by a hooded man, who fled after she started to scream. The man escaped from the area before deputies could find him.
Last year, another woman was sexually assaulted in a similar break-in at the same apartment complex. And, in January, a woman reported seeing a prowler in her back patio at the same complex, which is called the Sumida Gardens Apartments. Detectives are now trying to figure out if the three incidents at the apartments, plus another one a short distance away are all related.
