Ventura County Man Permanently Banned From Tax Return Preparation Business

Posted on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 12:33pm

A federal court permanently banned a Ventura County man from the tax preparation business, as part of a plea deal involving hundreds of thousands of dollars in false, and inflated tax deductions.

Federal prosecutors say Benjamin Aparicio of Fillmore improperly prepared dozens, if not many more false, or misleading returns.  Aparicio operated a business known as BA Income Services in Santa Paula.  The prosecutors say in a sampling of more than 50 returns, investigators found understated tax liabilities of more than $400,000.   They say the Fillmore man also gave clients advice to form limited liability companies specifically to dodge tax laws.

Aparicio pled guilty to three counts of a 17 count federal indictment, and was sentenced to 18 months in prison, three years of supervised release, and restitution of more than $350,000.
