A trio of environmental groups filed suit against the City Of Oxnard, seeking to block a major new housing development near a prime wetlands area.
The Environmental Defense Center, the Environmental Coalition, and the local chapter of the Sierra Club filed a lawsuit against the City of Oxnard over its approval of the 1500 unit “South Shore” housing development in the Ormond Beach area.
The suit claims there are issues with the project’s environmental impact project, and includes the argument that the project fails to take into account z rise in sea level due to global warming. It also says the EIR understates impacts on the nearby Ormond Beach wetlands, which support some rare plants, and wildlife. The suit also tries to set the stage for opposition of a second major development proposed for the same area.
