Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a 30 acre brushfire in a remote part of eastern Ventura County, near Tapo Canyon Road. The fire was discovered just after 6 a.m. Sunday. No homes were threatened, but because it was such an isolated area between Ventura and Los Angeles Counties, firefighters had a hard time reaching it to fight it.
It was contained at around 6 Sunday night, but crews remained on the scene overnight to insure that it didn’t flare up, At its peak, nearly 200 firefighters battled the fire, aided by Ventura and Los Angeles County helicopters.
Meanwhile, investigators are also looking into the cause of a 15 acre blaze Saturday night off the 101 Freeway, on the Conejo Grade. The fire burned out of control for about two hours before it was contained. No structures were damaged.
