The just released 2010 Ventura County Crop Report shows it was a banner year for the county’s agricultural industry, with a 14.5% increase in value from 2009, to 2010. The report says the total value of crops hit $1.859 billion dollars in 2010.
Strawberries remained the county’s top crop, with a value of $542 million dollars, which was up 5%. Of the rest of the top ten crops, only one retained its same slot. The top five was rounded out by celery, nursery stock, lemons, and raspberries. Avocados, which finished sixth in 2010 in the county, showed a whopping 240% increase in value.
