Oil and Gas Supply Company, Environmental Group Reach Agreement Over Water Concerns In Ventura County

Posted on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 10:17am

The Environmental Defense Center reached agreement with a company over water runoff concerns over the company’s chemical blending facility on the lower Ventura River.

The EDC has filed a notice of intent to sue Multi-Chem, alleging that its facility violated the Federal Clean Water Act.  In an agreement with the Texas based company, Multi-Chem says it will install some stormwater protection measures at the facility, revise its stormwater pollution prevention plan, and pay for independent water quality monitoring for the next three years.  It also set up a fund to help prevent spills, and mitigate them should they occur.  The facility custom blends chemicals for use in oil and gas production, and pipeline facilities.

The EDC commended Multi-Chem for stepping up to deal with concerns about the lower Ventura River, which provides habitat for a number of endangered species.
