A teacher at Oxnard’s E. O. Green Junior High School talked about efforts to support a male student’s efforts to work with his feminine identity, including a discussion she had with him minutes before he was shot to death at school. Dawn Boldrin testified during the fourth day of the trial of Brandon McInerney, who is accused of first degree murder, and a hate crime for the February, 2008 killing of Larry King.
Boldrin talked about how she helped King with makeup tips, and gave him a dress. The day he was killed, she says she cautioned King about respecting fellow students, telling him that he needs to understand that some of them won’t share his beliefs.
Prosecutors contend McInerney killed King as part of what they say are his white supremacist beliefs, and because he was upset over taunts by the sometimes flamboyant teen. Defense lawyers charge King sexually harassed McInerney, leading to the killing.
