Extended Military Exercise Could Cause Noise, Heavy Air Traffic In Region

Marines and sailors for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit are going to be taking part in a big regional drill from July 8th through 21st, in preparation for their deployment in the Middle East, and South Pacific.  The training mission will take place at sites from Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo counties, but the with military units being housed at Naval Base Ventura County, some of the heaviest traffic could occur in our region.  There will be intensive helicopter activity tied to the drills.  Some of the training will take place at Platform Hogan, an oil and gas platform off the coast of Carpinteria.
