Ventura County Man Pleads Guilty To Assaulting Mother, Daughter

A Thousand Oaks man could go to jail for more than two decades after pleading guilty to charges a committed a lewd act on a 12-year-old girl, and then later attacked the girl’s mother with a crowbar.

Ventura County prosecutors say 47-year-old Michael Lee Brunton committed the act on the girl.  They say that when the girl told her mother, and the mother told family and friends, Brunton became enraged, and broke into the victim’s home.

They say he attacked the mother with a crowbar, causing serious injuries.  When the girl who was also there at the time tried to flee, Brunton was distracted, and the mother was able to call 911.  He was arrested before he could cause further harm to the girl.

He pled guilty to to charges of committing a lewd act on a minor, attempted murder, burglary, and kidnapping.  Brunton could face close to 23 years in prison when he’s sentenced next month.
