The University of California system has decided it will sell a nearly 38 acre chunk of land it’s owned in Ventura County for nearly two decades. The U.C. Hansen Trust property is at the intersection of Telegraph Road, and Saticoy Avenue in Ventura. It’s been used as farmland, but the City of Ventura has approved plans for homes, and a park on the site. The university system has wanted to sell the property for some time, but waited until there were signs of improvement in the economy. Money from the sale will help support a second agriculural site donated by the Hansen family to the U.C. system, the Faulkner farm in Santa Paula. The system is reviewing whether it will sell that property as well, an idea that’s drawn strong opposition from the community.
